I am glad to here stuart is doing better.
Not all my parrotlets are tame enough to sit on my finger, but i must admit clipping there wings does definetely help in taming them, i had to do it with sky and scooby because they were like little bullets and always flying into windows and doors , but once i clipped they wings they were alot better.

they said that with such small birds its difficult to determin exactly what is wrong with them because they often show many of the same symptoms regardless of whats wrong, fluffed up feathers, unsteady on feet, weight loss etc

I don't know what vet you talked to but this certainly would not be a vet I want treating my birds eek eek eek

If for any reason your bird starts this again he needs to go immediately to an Avian Vet (a qualified) Avian Vet. By the time birds show symptoms it is already an advanced problem that needs medical attention. I would hate to see you lose your little bird to this kind of bad advice from a vet.

I agree with Bonnie yes they are more
expensive than a normal vet... but well worth the
cost...

I never heard a vet say they "couldn't treat" anything! Our avian vet actually is a parrotlet fan - if you look around you can probably find one who knows their stuff.
Good luck with the veggies!
